My grand daughters were hoping we would get stranded there for at least a night. Before we knew it our day had to come to en end. We saw remnants of ship wrecks on the island. The seals, according to Parks Canada, exceed 50,000! Unfortunately, we did not see any foxes, but apparently make Sable their home as well. I am sure during the course of the day, we saw most of the 650 horses that are said to be on the island. They were puzzled to see us, as the island does not have many visitors. The wild stallions were beautiful to see and were not at all afraid of us. We started on our walking tour with the two girls having their cameras ready with their cameras.
I had my two grand daughters, ages 11 and 12, great horse lovers and avid riders. They transported us to the main house, where we were given instructions on the do's and don't of the island and an overview. As we landed, we were met by two Parks Canada Employees. The approach to the island was amazing, seeing the horses, seals and sharks in the water, as we arrived by fixed wing, landing on the beach. I had my two grand daughters, ages 11 and 12.
